Louth and Lincolnshire natural and relaxed wedding photography

As a Louth, Lincolnshire based professional and experienced wedding photographer, I use my skill and creativity to capture special memories and all the important moments. On your most special of days, the last thing that you want to be worrying about is how your wedding album will look.  By offering completely individual coverage tailored to your own particular needs, you will be able to enjoy your wedding photographs for years and get just what you expect.  No two couples or weddings are the same, so why should your photographs be? To find out more about how I approach photographing your wedding, compare the wedding coverage I offer and to see more examples of some of the many previous special couples that I have photographed take a look at my wedding portfolio.

A wedding photographer that’s Alongside you for support

As an experienced wedding photographer, I always encourage my wedding couples to lean on me for support both before and during their special day. You will have lots of ideas and no doubt many more questions about how things work, what to expect and when things might happen. There’s no need to worry - I will be at your side to provide suggestions, advice and guidance! I always consider it such an honour to be a part of your day and, like you, I want it to go off seamlessly and be full of emotion, fun and happiness.

From our first meeting and throughout the months and weeks leading up to your wedding, I will be on hand to talk about your plans with you when you need to. I want to hear about your ideas and will be able to use my experience to guide you through logistics, timings and what to expect.

During each stage of your wedding day, I will be right there capturing all of the significant moments and looking for opportunities to tell the story of your day. I always work as discreetly as possible but will guide you when you need it, let you know when things are happening and how to get the best from your day.

I know that you will be desperate to see some images from your day! Wherever possible you will receive a sneak preview within 48 hours. These will give you an idea of what to look forward to in the weeks ahead. I usually aim to get your photos back to you around six weeks after.

What level of photography do I need?

Special memories of your special day

My number one aim on your wedding day is to capture all of the incredible moments that happen so that you have a full story of your day to look back on. I use my experience of photographing weddings in Louth and Lincolnshire, as well as further afield, to ensure that you have a fabulous selection of images that bring back memories of all the key moments during your special day. I will always be on the look out for those ‘can’t-be-planned-for’ moments as well as making sure that I have relaxed, comfortable and easy-going candid images of you and your guests (many of which they probably won’t even realise have been taken) that meet your requests. If there’s something that you know is a ‘must have’ I really want to know about it so that I can make sure it’s ticked off your shot list! Your wedding day will go by quickly so let’s work together to create wonderful memories of your most special of days.

Beautiful images tailored to you

If there is something that you would particularly like to see in your final images, it can be discussed during the informal meetings that are included in my Your Big Day coverage.  These meetings give you the chance to discuss ideas with me and allow us to get to know each other, allowing you to be at ease during those moments of your special day when it really matters. Sometimes my couples know exactly what they’re looking for in their images and sometimes they are desperate for guidance. Either way, I can use my wedding photography experience to talk you through how to get the best images from your day. I will make suggestions and show you ideas. From there, we can make sure that your wedding images reflect you and your day. Each wedding day is unique and everyone is looking for something different in their wedding photography - I will fit my coverage in around you and your plans, you don’t need to fit in with me!

Professional and discreet wedding coverage

Wherever possible, I aim to work discreetly to capture all of the important moments of your day from a distance; documenting the events in a way which does not interfere with your enjoyment of your day.  Your wedding day is a day to be enjoyed - it’s not a photoshoot for me to build my portfolio! You can be assured that during your preparations, the ceremony and afterwards; your day is creatively photographed with professionalism. During the day itself, I work unobtrusively so that I can create fabulous memories for you whilst ensuring that you and your guests are at ease. If there are elements of your day that you especially would like photographing, please do let me know so that I can make sure that I allow plenty of time in my schedule throughout your wedding day to capture. Likewise, if there’s something that you are less bothered about, that’s important for me to know too. That way I can concentrate on the things you do want and not so much on less important aspects. There will be times that I will need to ‘borrow’ you and your guests during the day and I will do so discreetly and professionally.

We are so happy that we picked Darren to be our photographer for our wedding. He was friendly and professional throughout. He was available for consultation before the big day and and on the wedding itself he was there capturing every special moment.

The results are so good. We have so many amazing photos, it’s going to to be hard to know which we should have printed. We had the photos back to us in a few weeks, which was much quicker than we expected. We just don’t have a bad word to say. Thanks Darren for capturing our day.

Have you chosen your perfect wedding venue? As much as I love working at the many venues that I’ve photographed weddings at before, including those listed below, I love to capture wedding photographs at new and unfamiliar settings!

During my many years of experience as a professional wedding and engagement photographer in Louth and Lincolnshire, I have had the pleasure of capturing amazing memories for so many couples at a wide range of spectacular venues not just in Lincolnshire but further afield. I’m so lucky to have a number of fantastic venues right on my doorstep in Louth, including the great Kenwick Park Hotel, Kenwick Park Golf Club, Louth Golf Club and Louth Town Hall as well as lovely Brackenborough Lakes Resort and incredible Mansion House. As well as hotels and licensed venues, I am very familiar with photographing at our spectacular churches including St James’ Church (which stands proud over Louth with the tallest medieval parish spire in England) and beautiful St Michael’s Church, amongst others. North of Louth, I have had the pleasure of photographing weddings at the elegant Stallingborough Grange, classic Oaklands Hall Hotel and picturesque Laceby Manor near Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, as well as the Asbourne Hotel at North Killingholme near Immingham. Within Grimsby itself, I’ve captured weddings at the Millfields Hotel.

Over in Lincoln, I have captured special moments at the fabulous Charlotte House Hotel at the heart of the city and Bentley Hotel nearby as well as being very familiar with the amazing Lincoln Cathedral. Just south of Louth is the tranquil village of Little Cawthorpe where I’ve captured memories at ‘The Splash’ Royal Oak Inn. Further south are the amazing settings of Stourton Estates and Walled Garden Baumber near Horncastle, Lincolnshire; as well as the historic surroundings of the Petwood Hotel in Woodhall Spa and The Royal Hotel in Skegness. To the east of Louth I’ve photographed weddings at the excellent Grange Farm Park at Maltby le Marsh.

The Riverlands Wedding Barns at Faxfleet near Goole in East Yorkshire really is a stunning venue that I’ve also thoroughly enjoyed capturing amazing wedding photographs at.

Personalised wedding photographs just for you

We will devise a list of shots that you would especially like, including your 'must-haves'. Of course, my experience of shooting weddings will allow me to offer suggestions.  In addition, it is often worthwhile meeting at the venue before your wedding day to look around and discuss possibilities and ideas. I can advise you of suitable settings for family and friend group portraits and we can explore the area around the location to find some amazing spots to create wonderful timeless images of the two of you. If your wedding has a theme or personalised little touches, please do let me know so that your images can reflect this.  Details are important, especially when you may have invested your preparation time in creating them, and I love seeing your creativity and making sure those easily overlooked aspects of your day are not forgotten.

What would you like to know?

  • My number one question! My wedding photography coverage is very straightforward and is based on whether you want your images to tell the story of your whole day or a shorter version that includes the essential moments. Click here to find out more about what’s included in Full Day and Half Day coverage.

  • As you will no doubt have noticed from the wedding photography on this site or my social media, my images are a combination of posed and informal. During the day we will take opportunities to capture any images that you would like, which will mean that I need to borrow you here and there. Aside from those times, I work discretely to capture moments as they happen - candid, genuine images that tell the story of your day. My images are relaxed and comfortable - so that you can be as well!

  • To keep things simple, please complete the enquiry form on this page. From there I can contact you and make arrangements to meet to discuss your wedding day and what you’re looking for from your photos.

  • Ideally, the sooner the better. My diary can fill up quickly, particularly for summer months, and I sometimes have wedding days booked in as much as two years ahead. If you have booked your venue and know your date and are now moving on to securing a wedding photographer, please do contact me using the enquiry form on this page as soon as possible so that we can start talking about your big day.

  • In short - yes! In the many years I have been photographing weddings, my couples have always found it useful to meet to talk about their plans for the day. I would always want to meet you in person before your big day and I think you would want to meet me too! We will talk about expectations, ideas and logistics and you can ask any questions you have.

  • To begin with, please complete the enquiry form on this page. I aim to get back to you as soon as possible using your chosen method - phone call, text message or email. From there, I can answer your initial questions and we can make arrangements to meet.

  • The length of time I will spend with you on your wedding day depends on whether you have chosen Full or Half Day coverage. Once I know the level of coverage you would like and some timings for your day, I can give you an idea of what time I will start and finish the day with you.

  • I aim to have your finished images back to you around six weeks after your special day. Summer is always a very busy time and, as you can imagine, my schedule is usually quite full meaning that it may take a little longer at certain times. I will always endeavour to keep you up to date.

  • One of the questions I get most often and one that’s really difficult to answer! Depending on the length of coverage you choose, any must-have images you would particularly like, what you have happening throughout the day; putting a number on how many images you will end up with varies considerably from one wedding to the next. What I can promise you is that you will get images that tell the story of each part of your day and past experience tells me that can be several hundreds!

  • You will receive your finished fully-edited images in high resolution on a USB which comes in a beautiful presentation box. Included in the box is a space for you to put your favourite printed versions. During the editing process, I will select images and get them printed for you to start off your collection.

  • Yes, all of the finished images from your day will be provided to you in colour and in high resolution format which is more than adequate for printing. If you would like something different with your images when they are edited, we can discuss that.

  • With my Full Day wedding photography, an engagement session is included. An engagement photoshoot can be added on to Half Day coverage. To find out more about Engagement photography, click here.

  • Definitely! An engagement session might sound unnecessary but is a perfect way of us getting to know each other better, for you to get an idea of what to expect on your wedding day and how I work, and you get to spend quality time together and get more fabulous images afterwards. Click here to find out more about Engagement photo sessions.

  • I love hearing about ideas you have seen and want to try to include in your wedding photography! With sites like Instagram and Pinterest providing a wealth of new and different ideas, please let me know if there is something you really love - I’m up for trying new and creative images!

  • Absolutely. I am based in the market town of Louth at the heart of the beautiful Lincolnshire countryside. I have easy access all across the county. I love capturing images all over Lincolnshire but also further afield across the country. Usually there are no extra travel costs involved but depending on the distance and times involved, there be an additional charge. I will let you know if that’s the case for your venue.

  • Quite possibly! Over the years I have had the pleasure of capturing wedding photography for my couples at a wide range of venues across Lincolnshire and beyond including churches, hotels, registry offices and elsewhere. If I haven’t been to your chosen venue before that’s not a problem - it gives me more possibilities to explore and come come up with new creative locations and ideas!

  • A meal is always appreciated! A wedding day is a very long day (even though it might seem to you that it’s going by in flash) and is very physically and mentally demanding as a photographer. If there is an opportunity for me to eat, usually while your guests are doing so, it would be very welcome. Please feel free to discuss this with me when we meet.

  • You are welcome to spread out the cost of your chosen wedding photography to suit you and your budgeting. I always try to offer as much flexibility as possible. I will explain your options when we meet.

  • Your deposit secures my services on your day and gives you peace of mind that I am exclusively yours on your big day. When we meet and you have chosen your level of coverage, I will calculate your deposit and give you details of how to pay it.

  • Your remaining balance after the payment of your deposit can be paid however works for you and your budgeting. You are welcome to pay in a single lump sum, monthly instalments or as-and-when is convenient prior to your wedding day itself. I try to be as flexible as possible so please do ask about your payments options when we begin discussing your coverage.

  • Absolutely. Wedding albums are a separate conversation after you have received your finished images. I work with some fabulous suppliers that I have met in person - they’re so good that I used them for my own wedding album! The album pages are created from a blank canvas, meaning that I can put every individual page layout together in the style you prefer.

  • Your wedding photographs should be on display in your home in pride of place so, yes, I offer canvases, wall art and prints in many different sizes and styles. The great thing about being able to pick and choose my suppliers is that I know I am able to offer you fantastic quality products without breaking the bank!

  • I use high quality professional DSLR camera bodies and a range of lenses. That way, I have options in the event that I have technical issues. In addition, a variety of lenses means that I can capture small details up close, unexpected moments from the other side of the room, or show that must-have wide angle shot in all its glory!

  • That’s great. Please complete the enquiry form on this page and we can make arrangements to get talking about your exciting plans for your special day!

Secure your date in my diary!
